SECTION A: (30 MARKS)

(b) Briefly describe ground water formation. [5 Marks]

2. (a) List down FIVE importance of dams and reservoirs in Kenya. [3 Marks]

(b) State briefly some of the soil conservation measures which need to be put in
practice to safeguard, enhance and reclaim soil resources in Kenya. [5 Marks]

3. (a) Define the term wetlands. [2 Marks]

(b) Briefly state the importance of the Ramsar convention. [2 Marks]

4. (a) Differentiate between physical and chemical weathering in the process of soil
formation. [3 Marks]

(b) Explain briefly the importance of sustainable utilization of natural resource.

5. (a) Aquaculture can make an important contribution to poverty alleviation, food
security and social wellbeing in many countries. Discuss opportunities that exist for aquaculture development in Kenya. [10 Marks]

(b) Discuss the impact of invasive species on the environment and human health.

6. (a) Giving examples, discuss the economic benefits of biodiversity in Kenya.

(b) Discuss the issues facing water resources in Kenya and measures which need to
